What is the Difference between a Real Estate Broker and Real Estate Agent?
The path to owning real estate is filled with lots of terms, professionals, and paperwork. A few terms that you may see as you start looking are real estate agent and real estate broker.
Both real estate agents and real estate brokers are licensed by the state and can sell you a home. However, the biggest difference is that real estate agents must work with a brokerage firm in order to legally sell real estate, while real estate brokers can establish their own firm and/or sell real estate on their own. To have this ability, real estate brokers must go through additional education and training and take an additional licensure exam.
